Selecting files and folders

The Move Files entry is one of many entries that requires you to indicate files and/or folders. Let's describe the interface in detail. As shown in the screenshot Configuring a move files entry, you have two textboxes where you can either type or browse for the files or folders. You also have a third textbox for the wildcard. These textboxes only serve for entering the information. Unless you add them to the grid succeeding (you do this by clicking on the Add button), PDI will ignore them. In fact, entering the data as you did in the tutorial, or typing it by hand in the grid, is exactly the same. The advantage of the first method is that you have the Browse buttons to help you find the files and folders.

Note that the grid allows you to add more rows. This means that in the same entry you can move several files with different source and destination folders or file patterns. For adding more rows, the procedure is the same. You add them by hand in the grid, or with the help of the Browse and Add buttons.
No matter the purpose of the entry, the way of entering this information is the same in all cases. You will also see this kind of interface in Transformation steps.
