What do they mean?

add增加／進一步說verb

用作及物動詞時，add表示“添加”，to add numbers表示“把一串數字加起來求得總數”。它也表示“說完之後又補充說”。

• Add a spoonful of curry powder to the mixture.

往混合物裏面加一勺咖哩粉。

• Jane said she didn't have time to finish reading the book.'I wasn't enjoying it very much.' she added.

簡說她沒時間讀完這本書。“我不太喜歡它的內容。”她補充說。

added更多／額外的adjective

added表示“在應有之外更多的”。

• This camera has an added advantage-it uses rechargeable batteries.

這個相機還有一個額外好處—它用的是充電電池。

addition增加物／加法noun

用作可數名詞時，addition指“增加物”；用作不可數名詞時，它指“加法”。

• The children learn simple addition and subtraction in their first year at school.

學校一年級的孩子們學習簡單的加法和減法。

additional額外的adjective

additional表示“新增的”。

• We hope to complete the building work without additional expense.
