Chapter Two China's Peaceful Development and the International Order

The path of peaceful development is based on more than 30 years' experience in reform and opening-up and comprehensive interaction with the international community. In these 30 years, the relationship between China and the international community has taken a favorable turn with China growing from a revolutionary country outside the international system to a big responsible country within the system and an economically developing country safeguarding the stability of international community. The prerequisite for China's path of peaceful development is its integration into the present international order. China actively engages in the international affairs, taking advantage of the opportunities the international order offers while coping with the challenges coming along with it. Therefore, there's no denying that China's rapid development owes to the present international order to a certain degree. And the path of peaceful development, which is based on the practical consideration of its national interests, remains China's inevitable choice that keeps in line with the fundamental interests of the world. It's bound to contribute to the establishment of a just and legitimate international order in the long run.
