ABSTRACT

Ideological and political education is a significant political priority of our party and our nation, and the essential issue of the construction of university culture lies in the ideological construction. The university culture is the value orientation, goal of conviction, pursuit of ambition, and principles of behavior through historical deposition and humanity accumulation during years of schooling. It is indispensable for the great achievements of the socialist universities of Chinese characteristic and the construction of university culture. By locating the ideological and political education thoroughly and accurately, exerting its important role, providing an elaborate answer for important issues as what“should be done”, and“how to do”, can the construction of university culture promote the all-round development of our teacher and students and also our universities efficiently.

Marxism ideology is the guidelines of the missions and accomplishments of the ideological and political education. The construction of university culture conferred glorious tasks on the ideological and political education. In the process of the construction of university culture, the construction, dissemination and popularization of the core socialist values is impossible without the ideological and political education. The core socialist values are the core content of the ideological and political education, and the ideological and political education is an important way to realize the core socialist values.

At the same time, a necessary link to the transfer of the dominant socialist culture from its theoretical form to the social practice. To fulfill the core socialist values in the process of the construction of university culture is the core content of the ideological and political education, with the persist and consolidation of the guidance of Marxism, the maintenance of the socialist common ideal of Chinese characteristics, the cultivation of the spirits of our nation and times, the conscious implement of the socialist concept of honor and disgrace as the manifestations.

The channel through which ideological and political education plays its role in the construction of university culture is primary. How to play its positive role and solve its problems, inheriting the civilizing function is up to how to utilize the ideological and political education in the construction of university culture. Cultural foundation should be firmed formed and beautified, cultural quality should be improved, moral implication should be strengthened, university behaviors should be modified through the ideological and political education. University members can reflect by themselves, participate in the social practice, to gain an real insight of the dominant socialist values and experience them from the bottom of their heart, and to further it in the implementation after the ideological and political education.

The positive role can be played to beautify university material culture through strengthening cultural foundation, to lighten spiritual culture through cultivating cultural quality, to strengthen mechanic culture through the cultivation of regulation awareness, to optimize behavior culture through cultural atmosphere.
