Abstract

With the rapid advance of urbanization, the relationship between the development patterns of regional urbanization and urban ecological security in China is being concerned by scholars at home and abroad. Based on the related theory of urbanization and ecological security, and the main data of population, economy, society and ecological environment in the east, middle, west and northeast of China, this book constructs the comprehensive evaluation index system of regional ecological security and“Pressure-State-Response model”as“P-S-R model”. By using the analytic hierarchy process and the comprehensive evaluation model of ecological security, the basic characteristics and development pattern of urbanization, the regional ecological security situation and the coupling relationship between regional urbanization and ecological security in eastern, central, western and northeastern China and 31 provinces（regions and municipalities）, were systematically studied.

The basic judgment of the sequential relationship between the process regional urbanization and ecological security in China is the premise to clear the favorable conditions and constraints facing the development of urbanization. This book analyses the regional ecological security situation in China from the four regional level. In 2010, the regional ecological security comprehensive index of the northeast region is a“good condition”region, and it is the only one of the four regions in the whole country to achieve“relatively safe”. But there is a certain gap between the three provinces in Northeast China. Eastern, central and western, as well as the national ecological security index（A）are in the third level of the regional ecological security classification standards, as the“sensitive state”of“basic security”A comprehensive analysis of the coupling relationship between regional urbanization and ecological security shows that in the next 20 years or even longer period of time, in the process of the coordinated development of urbanization and ecological security, the situation of regional urbanization and ecological security in China will be affected by many factors. Among the elements, both positive factors and a series of constraints exist. By studying the spatiotemporal and ecological security characteristics of regional patterns in China, the coupling relationship between urbanization and ecological security in the eastern, central, western and northeastern regions can be summarized as three coupling types with different characteristics. Among them, there are not only positive factors, but also a series of constraints. By comprehensively investigating the temporal and spatial characteristics and the ecological security features of the development pattern of China's regional urbanization reflected, the coupling relationship between regional urbanization and ecological security in eastern, middle and western regions and Northeast China has formed 3 kinds of coupling types with different characteristics. The spatiotemporal characteristics of the coupling of regional urbanization and ecological security in China are in line with the regular patter of the relationship between urbanization and ecological environment interaction in the process of urbanization. From the view of 31 provinces（autonomous regions and municipalities）on the continent, the coupling relationship between regional urbanization and ecological security in China has formed 12 different types of coupling. The temporal and spatial characteristics of the coupling patterns of regional urbanization and ecological security in China, in general accord with the basic law of the interaction between urbanization and ecological environment in the process of urbanization.

Based on the analysis of the forecast of urbanization development trend in eastern, central, western and eastern regions of China and the systematical analy sis of regional ecological security constraints, this book puts forward the strategic choice and countermeasures of urbanization development model in China from the perspective of ecological security. It is considered that the regional urbanization in China is investigated from the perspective of guaranteeing and realizing ecological security. Due to the Influence of historical, geographical conditions and social and economic development level and other factors, the regional development of ecological resources and urbanization in our country is not balanced. The choice of the specific promotion path of the future regional urbanization, should be based on the“national main functional area planning”as the guide, according to the actual situation of regional economic and social development, insisting on the principles of regional co-ordination and urban and rural co-ordination, in advance the urbanization process in the eastern, western and northeast in china, selecting the regional characteristics of the urbanization development model While actively promoting the process of regional urbanization, guaranteeing and promoting the level of regional ecological security.
